DRAMA*** Students that want to audition for ADVANCED DRAMA OR ADVANCED CHORUS need to attend IN PERSON auditions on Saturday March 1 OR 15 from 9:00-1:00pm at MSGA. We will have someone at the main door to the GYM to let you in. Auditions will take place in the MSGA GYM and all students will need the following: DETAILS COMING SOON! Here are course descriptions for the advanced classes: Advanced Chorus (Academy Singers) Course Description Advanced Chorus students form MSGA's premier vocal performing ensemble, known as the Academy Singers. This course focuses on fostering proper vocal and dance technique within the context of popular genres and styles of music. In this performance-based class, students will receive vocal and dance instruction that will prepare them for continuing to sing and or dance in a variety of settings. The Academy Singers perform in the community and for various school events and concerts. Students in this group will represent MSGA at Southern Star Music Festival in the spring. Advanced Drama Course Description Advanced Theatre Arts students are MSGA's elite theatre performing group known as the Academy Actors. This course focuses on the art of acting and the essentials of play production. In this "workshop" style class, students will receive vocal, dance, and acting instruction to develop students for a future in the performing arts. The Academy Actors perform the school musical, various showcase pieces, and skits for school/community performances. Students in this group will represent MSGA at local, state, and national events throughout the school year. STUDENTS MAY FILL OUT A GOOGLE FORMS APPLICATION RELEASED IN FEBRUARY. THERE WILL ALSO NEED TO BE TWO TEACHER RECOMENDATIONS THAT WILL BE ON GOOGLE FORMS. MSGA SHOW ON THE ROAD VISITS THE STRAND ON MARCH 11 WHERE WE WILL SHOW ALL 5TH GRADERS WHAT THE ARTS AT MSGA HAVE TO OFFER. PLEASE SUBMIT APPLICATIONS ASAP! Students will come in the main door of the MSGA GYM, sign in with a staff member, and we will get started around 9:15. We will use the whole time. We will potentially do some improv exercises as well. ***NOTE: YOU MAY ONLY BE SELECTED FOR ONE GROUP ADV. CHORUS OR ADV. DRAMA*** Also, do not hesitate to email me with any questions or concerns.
